Bob Fertik Dear Friends and Supporters, George Bush said speaking about the dreadful loss of life in Iraq in August: (08/03/05): “We have to honor the sacrifices of the fallen by completing the mission.” “The families of the fallen can be assured that they died for a noble cause.” In reaction to these two assinine and hurtful statements, members of Gold Star Families for Peace (GSFP) are going to George’s vacation home in Crawford, Tx this Saturday, August 6th at 11:00 am to confront him on these two statements. 1) We want our loved ones’ sacrifices to be honored by bringing our nation’s sons and daughters home from the travesty that is Iraq IMMEDIATELY, since this war is based on horrendous lies and deceptions. Just because our children are dead, why would we want any more families to suffer the same pain and devastation that we are? 2) We would like for him to explain this “noble cause” to us and ask him why Jenna and Barbara are not in harm’s way, if the cause is so noble. 3) If George is not ready to send the twins, then he should bring our troops home immediately. We will demand a speedy withdrawal. GSFP will be joined by members of Veteran’s for Peace (VFP), Military Families Speak Out (MFSO), Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW), Code Pink, and Crawford Peace House. We GSFP members will not leave until we get answers from George Bush. We deserve and expect him to welcome us with answers to as why our loved ones are dead. Thanks to the Downing Street Memos, we now know George Bush’s invasion of Iraq in 2003 was based entirely on lies. Iraq had no stockpiles of WMD’s or Al Qaeda ties, and Bush knew it. And Bush had no plans to rebuild Iraq after his invasion. Two years later, Iraq is a bloody quagmire: U.S. soldier deaths are nearing 2,000, over 13,000 have been maimed, and 30% of returning combat troops have serious mental health problems At least 24,685 Iraqi civilians have been killed, possibly over 100,000 U.S. taxpayers have been burdened with $200 billion more in debt  Torture approved by the White House has made the world hate us The war has tripled global terrorism, not reduced it Military retention and recruitment are down, making America weaker Because of these huge costs, the American people now oppose the war by 59%-39%. But George Bush stubbornly refuses to discuss a timetable for withdrawal – ignoring a request by 103 Iraqi Members of Parliament! On Thanksgiving Day 2003, Bush snuck into Iraq to deliver a fake turkey to our troops. On Thanksgiving Day 2005, Bush should end his “turkey” of a war by starting to bring our troops home. Only instead of getting rid of the stupid people, they’re getting rid of every hard-working, patriotic, volunteer soldier that has gone to fight for our country, regardless of their own personal agendas, regardless of their beliefs about the war, simply because America called for them. These soldiers are, arguably, the best citizens we have in this country.

When will their sacrifices be enough?
What are their sacrifices worth in the long run?
How are we thanking them for their duty? Instead of supporting them when they come home, we let our VA fall $1 BILLION short.
How is Iraq any better off now than it was before we invaded, over 2 YEARS ago?
How are we any safer after 9/11 if we still can’t find Bin Laden?
What is the plan for success in Iraq? How is it that no one knows what “success” even means in this war?
Instead of a plan, our President, if we can call him that, offers us only a PEP rally. He tells us that we’re making progress. That the insurgence is almost over.
Why, then, are the thousands of troops still dying? Still reporting an increasing insurgence?
Why, on the anniversary of Iraqi sovereignty, is there so much violence?
“June 28 marks the first anniversary of sovereignty being handed over to the Iraqis. But confident predictions from Americans and Iraqis of an end to the violence and bloodshed have proved unfounded.

“North of Baghdad, insurgents struck once again at the heart of Iraq’s reconstruction efforts. A suicide car bomber killed one of the most prominent Shia members of Iraq’s new parliament.

“Dhari Ali al-Fayadh, who was in his late 80s, was the acknowledged head of the legislative body and served as interim speaker. He was on his way to work when the attacker crashed into the convoy killing him and his son.

“Senior officials say Al-Fayadh will be hard to replace. The elderly sheik came from a district of Sunni and Shia voters where he had the respect of both groups.

“South of Baghdad, another suicide bomber killed at least three police officers outside a hospital.

“In Baqouba a car bomb killed five people and wounded nine.

“The deaths of two more U.S. soldiers pushed the number of American dead to at least 1,743.”

Why is there absolutely no communication?
How many more thousands of lives must we sacrifice to “save” a country that doesn’t want to be saved?

I just don’t get it.

Any interest in staying alive, stop believing the endless lies he’s feeding the media and start a respectful discussion with me about it.
