LJ Neglect

Well, I know I’ve been neglecting my poor LJ, and all my LJ Friends, so I figured a post on my birthday would be a nice break from my complete lack of posts. Unfortunately, I figured I would be posting from New Orleans, not Rochester. Ugh. Apparently, just because it’s my birthday doesn’t mean I actually get to take the flights that I pay for. Instead, they gave away my seat. There was no way I could get there at all for less than $300 more, on top of the $410 it cost to buy them in the first place.Even then, there was no way to get there in time to see the only thing I really wanted to see – my sister teaching the high school students. In all fairness, I was running a whole 5 minutes late, so I guess giving away $400 of mine is acceptable….
Anyway, it looks like I’ll be in Rochester this weekend after all. Turning 24 without New Orleans, live music, or hot dancers to keep me company. In fact, Ryan and Marci are going out of town too, so I actually get to sit at home alone all weekend. I guess this means I have more time to do work … yippee! What an excellent birthday present.
And that’s all the good news my LJ can handle for one day.

They didnt let you fly stand by on a later flight? Usually they charge 25-100 dollars to so but I’ve missed flights before without an issue. What airline?

Delta, and they wanted to put me on a later flight, but for close to $300, and like I said, I would have missed the high school students.

I am just surprised they didn’t let you try for standby. Can you reuse any portion of your ticket or are you SOL?

I have credit for the full ticket price less $75, for a year. No idea how that works, but I didn’t object.
