What is it with bus drivers? School bus drivers, especially. They decide that they own the road and you just better get the heck out of their way. That just doesn’t fly with me. This morning, on my way to work, I’m driving down a 5 lane (2 lanes in each direction + a turning lane) main road through Fairport, fittingly, Fairport Road. 3 cars decide to turn left from a stop sign coming out of the plaza on my right. That was fine, none of them made me slow down. I was in the left hand lane mind you. Then the school bus behind the third car also decided to go. I was literally dumb founded. He was no where close to having room to pass in front of me. I slammed on my breaks hard enough to kick in the ABS and make my laptop fly off the passenger seat and slam into the glove compartment and was still literally within INCHES of the rear end of the bus. I was surethat I had hit him. Like, I braced for impact (which is of course the opposite of what you’re supposed to do). It was one of those close calls where you REALLY need to lay on the horn to let the asshole know that he fucked up, but you’re so worried about crashing that you can’t process enough to get to the horn. Inches.
I hate bad drivers.

Turned in my first session paper last night. Got feedback by this morning, which is cool. But the feedback … left much to be desired.
Feedback:
Jesse,
Your SP1 is a solid opener in Senior Seminar.
Grade: 93
Jim Troisi
Um, thanks? How about telling me how I can get to 100 in the future? What were the 7 points docked for? Or did you just arbitrarily pick a number? What did I do correctly that I should continue in the future?
This vague and unfulfilling response comes after the assignment of, “write it as a think piece, or a response piece.” Great, thanks so much.

Today’s quote of the day is:
“I don’t like keeping up on current events. It’s not my style.”

Had an hour long conference call today with the entire technical crew (mostly from India) from the company we’re going to be working with, that my epiphany was related to. My idea was, as expected, well received, and will (of course) be used as our strategy for moving forward as a team. They modified one portion of it to accommodate their systems, but the concept is still entirely mine. I rock.

I just had a genius moment superb enough to more than make up for all the slacking off I did this week.
I even impressed the guy who’s job it is to come up with the ideas to solve what my idea solved. In all honesty, it’s fucking brilliant. I’ve impressed myself.
