So I’ve been spending the last two and a half weeks at work doing … other things. For a while I was cranking out the YWCA project because that had to be finished. Since then I’ve pretty much just been sitting around finding things to keep me occupied. It’s not like I don’t have work to do … I’m two weeks behind on my real work, and I can’t seem to focus or make myself do it. Usually when I slump like this it’s for a day or two and then I make up for it the following day. This time I can’t seem to start making up for it. Not sure what to do, really.
In other news …
The relatively new receptionist, Betsy, who seems like a really cool person, is leaving. They treated her like crap and she found a better job (I think better paying too): Camp Counselor somewhere in Vermont I think.
The relatively new accountant, Mike, is leaving. I hope he has another job lined up, but I don’t know for sure. They treat him like crap and all of our systems are messed up, so his job was hell.
Julie is leaving at the end of the summer. She and I have had our ups and downs, and she’s usually lacking in intelligence/common sense, but she’s a friendly face that I’ve gotten used to. Her job is hell and our boss treats the entire department like crap, so it’s no wonder she’s leaving. Going back to school in Buffalo.
Nick, the only other programmer in the company (who I’ve been training for the past 2 weeks), is going to Greece for 2 months over the summer. He probably wont come back here when he gets back.
Sandy has been talking about quitting for almost 2 years now. Someday she might actually do it.
All the rats are jumping ship. Probably time to look for a new job soon.
Outgoing Erika from AWNY gave me her number again this year. I still haven’t and still wont call her, but it’s nice to be flirted with sometimes. Felt like she wanted to kiss me when I was saying goodbye at the staff dinner. That part wasn’t cool, so it was good that I was leaving and wont see or speak to her again until May ‘06.
Shayna from Mel’s told me part of her life story yesterday in an attempt to get me to go out rollerblading with her. Sorry Charlie, I’m still not interested. And besides, who in their right mind buys those stupid rollerblades with a handheld brake button thing, and then tells the people she’s waiting on at lunch? But, she’s new to the area and has no friends, so maybe she’s just lonely and I’m reading it all wrong. Or maybe that was a ploy to make me think that. Either way, she can find other friends. It was nice to be flirted with the first time, how ever many weeks ago. Now it’s just weird. Nick and Julie think it’s hilarious though, so at least I’m providing entertainment.
Dinner tonight with the whole NTMP YWCA crew at James’ house. So bored that I customized my MapQuest directions to incorporate his directions. As in, editing the HTML so I can print out what looks like MapQuest but has his directions on it. What a productive use of work time.
Just like however long it took me to write this post. Awesome. Guess it’s about time for lunch now, since I’ve accomplished nothing all morning. Woohoo.
